Look and Sound Confident
Confidence often comes across as calm, clear, and deliberate rather than loud or forceful.
Begin still
Let the first sentence finish before adding unnecessary movement.
Stillness can make the opening feel more controlled.
Remove unnecessary softeners
Words such as “maybe,” “kind of,” and “I guess” can weaken a clear claim.
Keep them when uncertainty is real, not as a habit.
Finish statements cleanly
Avoid letting every sentence rise as if it were a question.
Give your key statements a clear ending.
Example
Compare “I kind of think this could maybe work” with “This can work for two reasons.”
Common mistake
Confusing confidence with speaking quickly, loudly, or aggressively.
Try this
Record a 30-second opinion twice. In the second attempt, slow slightly and remove unnecessary softening phrases.
Keep in mind
Confidence often sounds like clarity plus calm.
